A recent change in New York State's “move over” law is a victory in safety for its first responders. Previously, the law stated that cars must move out of the right lane if there is a vehicle with red, blue, and white or amber lights pulled over. While this law had great intentions to protect our law enforcement and utility workers, it didn't protect our volunteer firefighters and ambulance workers. Now, the law has been updated and includes blue and green lights. In the state of New York, firefighters are permitted to have blue lights and ambulance workers are permitted to have green lights. Currently, drivers need to move over for our first responders to protect them from oncoming traffic. If a firefighter pulls over to help a disabled car, they will now have more protection. Our crew at Ultra Bright Lightz thanks our first responders for their continuous courage, bravery, and commitment to keeping our communities safe.
