Description
The Whelen Howler Siren is designed to enhance warning signals in high risk areas such as intersections, by emitting deep penetrating tones that alert both drivers and pedestrians of an approaching vehicle. It should be noted that the Howler is not intended to replace the primary siren in a vehicle, but rather provides an additional eight second burst of low frequency sound for use in heavy traffic, intersections, or other areas with high ambient noise levels. This add-on system includes an amplifier and two speakers and can be used with any 100/200 watt siren amplifier to synchronize with the vehicle's primary siren tones. The system offers eight different tone durations ranging from 7.5 to 60 seconds and allows for the selection of one of three frequency bands via Scan-Lock buttons. Additionally, two external cancel controls are included with options for 12 volt or ground deactivation. It should be noted that certain vehicle models may require either a single or dual speaker system and the system is compatible with 12 or 24 VDC power sources.
